CBD Lotions are a great way to absorb CBD into your skin and target specific areas with a dose of CBD.
CBD lotions and topicals are everywhere these days and people are starting to wonder why CBD in my hair care, sun screen, sanitizer and basically every product type someone has created a version with CBD.
Lotion is a carrier oil to administer CBD to the body. It is super easy to make your own CBD Lotion from tinctures to apply CBD oils directly to a part of the body that you may want CBD on. Carrier oils are easily absorbed by the body and may contain other helpful ingredients. For example CBD oil tincture from MCT coconut oil is super good for you and has proven benefits. It just doesn’t absorb into the skin very well so if you want DIY CBD lotion you mix it with an existing body lotion that is made to be absorbed into the skin.
We use argan oil for our DOPE CBD OIL with Lavender and it works really well on absorbing CBD in to the skin.
Does CBD get into the blood through the skin?
Not really. The CBD is attracted to oils and is a fat soluble molecule. Studies show that it basically interacts with CB1 and CB2 receptors located in the skin. So what does CBD in lotion really do?
Many people use CBD in lotion to address specific pain related symptoms. Like if your shoulder hurts you may want to try putting it on your shoulder.
A study from the European Journal of Pain showed, using an animal model, CBD applied on the skin could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Another study demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat.
